A Mother's Love
A mother’s love is the greatest blessing
It turns life into love and love into life with ease
It is the beginning, the end, and the reason for being
And when her body is gone, her love doesn’t leave
A mother’s love is safe
In her arms, head to heart, anointed with Egyptian musk and sacrifice for sake
Baptized in her baby’s cries, she is the remedy
Her love is healing, her love has healed me
A mother’s love is true
It fills the empty room like burning incense
And catches in my throat as I try to make sense
The kind of love that lingers
My mother’s love is mine
It resides within me and her friends and family
The kind of love that doesn’t need to be said, but should be
A love that lives on as her soul rests in peace
